There are direct and indirect ways to correct mistakes A-The direct way includes correcting the student'smistakes by the teacher,of course in pubicin front his or her classmatesor asking his classmatesto correct him or herActually, it is not good wayIt makes students don’t want to speakAnd prefer to sit and listen B- The second way is to correct your students'Mistakesbut in indirect way How? 1- By repeating the same sentence that includes amistake but in a right way For example If the students says My brother go to school every day The teacher can say Yes, your brother goes to school every day 2- By saying the same sentence but making some focus or stress on the mistaketo make him or her think again about thesentence 3- By asking him or her to work with his group revising the sentence Other ways of correction In addition to the teacher correction, there are other two ways of correction
You can make some sort of checklist for Ss to correct themselves For example, when Ss make mistakes in spelling, just write (S) on this mistake In more detail: S for Spelling G for grammatical mistakes WC for word choice P for punctuation ..... etc
This way is good when you want to improve Ss' writing skills
D- Peer correction
It is a very good way for Ss . You can ask your Ss to correct each other .Ss have a wonderful ability in correcting mistakes
This way is suitable for speaking or writing skills. But, please take care of using this way as you know some students like to critisize their peers harshly in front of their classmates.
