I preferred to talk about class room management since I believe that it is the first step of teaching successfully. This Item is very important to achieve your objects and plans in the classroom, to do so you have to ask your self some necessary questions:
1- Did my activities suit the right length of time? 2- Was the pace of the lesson right? 3- Did I encourage the pair work, the group work and the pupils' participation? 4- Were my instructions clear? Did students understand what to do in the lesson? 5- What did I use to attract students and to notice their progress?
To answer these questions we have to discuss the main features of classroom management: the teacher's ability , skill and personality ,the student, the classroom and the school . In ensuring a suitable atmosphere in which the students can work the teacher should be able to: a) Set bounders with in which students can operate. b) Explain the items of language clearly . c) Use appropriate voice level and motivate students to participate with the teacher's help support and praise . d) Differentiate between rowdy class room and noisy working class room. e) Quickly recognize possible disruptive behavior and deal with it positively f) Not to avoid individual or group work but also to control those activities till the end of the class. g) Manage the activities, the time and the pace correctly . The teacher should be flexible and fair, he/she should have calm and confident reaction what ever the situation was . h) Use students' names while talking to them and avoid concentrating on definite ones. I should increase praise and decrease criticism. i) Be a ware of the classroom environment such a students' seats and movements, the windows, the tables the lights, the walls, the corners and the shelves.
And according to daily skillful and talented behavior the teacher has to: a)Encourage students to express their feelings and attitudes they have to work, to participate and to respect others. b) Make the audio-visual aids or objects familiar to students. c) Enhance learning and provide stimulation by using charts, pictures, real objects and various methods and strategies, such as drama or technology.. d)Use students' own items and display their own production. you should inform them of the importance of learning , colloquies and the school. e)Pay attention to students' different interests, hobbies ,thoughts ,altitudes, levels, ages and features. f) Maintain high standards of presentation of work and avoid confusing instructions or wasting time. Your teaching should be student's centered.
If there is a problem!?
1- Before the problem arises: a) careful planning. b) Clear instructions. c) Keep in touch.
2- When the problem is beginning a) I should deal with it quietly. b) I shouldn’t take things personally. c) I shouldn’t use threats.
3-When the problem has exploded:
a) To give in for example if the students refuse to do a home work, I may say '' okay, doesn't ''. b) I should make students an offer they can't refuse for example, to have multiple choice at the time they have to bring their homework. c) I should not complicate the situation and make the problem bigger. To sum up, in the classroom the teacher should be a controller, an assessor, an organizer, a prompter, a participant, a tutor and an investigator.
