“How To teach a Dialogue” There are some suggested procedures to deal with teaching a dialogue in the secondary stage . I think the following steps are fruitful in teaching a dialogue :
1.The teacher should ask Ss to read the whole dialogue silently to answer a pre-question . The teacher should elicit the main idea of the dialogue . ( A-Eliciting )
2.He should ask about the scene of the dialogue , for example ,
a)Who are the speakers ?
b)Where are they ?
c)What are they talking about ?
3.Student should locate the place and the theme of the dialogue .
4.The teacher should model the first exchange . (B-Modeling )
(Answer the first missing part )
5.Another silent reading to fill in the gaps
6.The teacher should set a time limit .
7.Students are asked to work in pairs to carry out the task . (C-Pair Work )
8.The teacher should go round the class to give a hand .
9.The teacher checks the answers collectively . ( D-Checking )
10.Students should make model modification .
11.Student are allowed to correct themselves . ( Self correction )
12.The teacher invites other students to correct the mistakes .
( Student/Student Correction / Peer Correction )
13.If the class fails , the teacher corrects them . ( Teacher Correction )
14.Teacher invites pairs of students to the front of the class to act out the dialogue .
15.Giving a time limit for students to write down the correct answers agreed upon
